The answer is yes.
You have heard the old adage that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. However, young dolphins at SeaWorld apparently don’t share the same limitations. The dolphins of SeaWorld Orlando at Dolphin Cove, the dolphin feeding and petting area, have learned something new.
Using their rostrums and blowing air from their blowholes, they are able to form perfect circles. Some have even mastered sticking there heads through them and even swimming through them as if they were hula-hoops. SeaWorld Orlando trainers say the behavior has never been seen before and is not taught.
This has even amazed the experts. Imagine what it may do when your children see it for the first time! Even the fact that this was possible seemed to surprise experts. So see there? Even dolphins can teach humans a thing or two.
The best place to see the phenomenon is the underwater viewing area at Sea World, located near the entrance to the manatee exhibit on the opposite side of the feeding wall. This is also one of the coolest, temperature-wise, places to stop on a hot summer afternoon, or in the case of spring break, a hot spring afternoon.
However, for those who are not able to see it in person, a video shows the behavior below. It is unclear why the dolphins are doing this, other than they seemingly simply enjoy doing it for the fun of it.
