ORLANDO, Fla. - Given the current economic climate, a number of companies are increasingly turning to wage freezes and even pay cuts, in lieu of layoffs. Even state governments and non-profit organizations are employing the same strategy.
Now, one of Orlando's largest full time and part time employers, Universal Orlando, has announced that its resort team members -- all staff, up to and including all levels of management -- will remain at 2008 wage levels. Different divisions were given the news over the past two weeks.
"We believe our team members and our company will benefit by having our business in the strongest financial position possible as we move through the challenging 2009," said Tom Schroder in a statement released to FOX 35.
All universal employees will be impacted by this. A small percentage of team members did get increases in January and February, so they will not be affected because this new policy just came into effect this month, according to Universal Orlando.
