This summer, with the recession leaving people uncertain about their job security, chances are most travelers will not plan big vacations, considering that they might not be able to afford their trip if they get laid off before they leave.

Universal Orlando understands this harsh reality of the current economic climate; as such, they are now offering a special protection plan aimed at prospective tourists who lose their jobs before their travel date.

Universal's Vacation Stimulus Offer gives free Vacation Protection Plan coverage, providing full refunds in the event a vacation must be canceled due to termination of employment, to travelers who book one of their three-night vacation packages, while those who book for four nights (or longer) will not only get the free insurance, but also free admission for children between the ages of three and nine.

The disclaimer on Universal Orlando's web site says that the Vacation Protection Plan "will only be provided to insureds who have been employed by the same company for at least one year". Additionally, it is only available to residents of the United States and Canada.

According to Jason Garcia of the Orlando Sentinel, trips must be booked by June 30, with travel dates anywhere from now until Oct. 8.
