AirTran Airways announced hikes in its fees for second checked bags and oversized and overweight luggage. Effective September 18, 2008, for reservations booked on August 14 or later, the charge for a second checked bag will be $25. Active military personnel traveling with ID and official orders are exempt from paying the second bag fee.
