DISNEY PARKS CELEBRATES BUZZâ??S HISTORIC SPACE JOURNEY WITH WELCOME HOME PARADE AT WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT
Buzz Lightyear is back on Earth after spending more than15 months in space. Disney Parks and NASA are celebrating his cosmic achievement, as the longest tenured â??crew memberâ?? in space, with a parade in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. Some of Buzzâ??s newest friends, including astronaut Buzz Aldrin and International Space Station Expedition 18 astronaut Michael Fincke, will also be at Disney World to celebrate. Buzz Lightyear, living his dream of space travel, returned to Earth aboard Space Shuttle Discovery on September 11, after spending most of his time onboard the International Space Station.
The 12-inch-tall action figure flew to space as part of an education initiative between Disney Parks and NASA to encourage students to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Buzz Lightyear is the intrepid space ranger toy from the Disneyâ?¢Pixar films â??Toy Storyâ?? and â??Toy Story 2.â?? Both films chronicle the adventures of a group of toys that come to life when humans arenâ??t around to see them.
