1904: Narrator Tom Conway (Peter Pan) is born in St. Petersburg, Russia.
1908: Writer Milt Banta (Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, The Wonderful World of Disney) is born in London, England.
1917: Camera effects artist, and Disney Legend, Bob Broughton (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Black Hole, and Mary Poppins, among others) is born in Berkeley, California.
1917: Actress June Foray (Lucifer the cat in Cinderella, Peter Pan, Grandmother Fa in Mulan II, Grammi in The Gummi Bears) is born in Springfield Massachusetts
1928: Walt Disney’s trademark application for Mickey Mouse is granted.
1928: Actor Roddy McDowall (Mr. Soil in A Bug’s Life, The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin, That Darn Cat!) is born in London, England.
1945: Actor Bruce Spence (Chum in Finding Nemo) is born in Auckland, New Zealand.
1948: Actor John Ritter (8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, The Barefoot Executive) is born in Burbank, California.
1948: Actor Jeremy Irons (Narrator for Spaceship Earth, H.G. Wells in From Time to Time, Scar in the Lion King) is born in Cowes, England.
1955: Disneyland’s Canal Boats of the World is closes after 2 months in operation. It will be renovated and renamed the Storyland Canal Boats.
1958: Actress Jennifer Tilly (Monsters Inc., The Haunted Mansion) is born in Harbor City, California.
1958: The Disneyland Viewliner (the park’s first attempt at mass-transit) shuts down and will be replaced by the Monorail.
1961: ABC’s Walt Disney Presents airs for the last time before being renamed Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color and moving to NBC.
1964: Walt Disney receives a Medal of Freedom from President Lyndon Johnson.
1964: Actress Faith Ford (Hope & Faith, The Pacifier) is born in Alexandria, Louisiana.
1973: Actor James Marsden (Prince Edward in Enchanted) is born in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
1980: In Walt Disney World’s Fantasyland, The Mickey Mouse Revue closes after 9 years in order to be shipped to Tokyo Disneyland.
1984: Actor Adam Lamberg (Gordo in Lizzie McGuire) is born in New York City, NY.
1984: In the EPCOT’s World Showcase, the Restaurant el Marrakesh opens in the Morocco Pavilion.
1985: Disney’s first Saturday morning cartoons (Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears and Disney’s Wuzzles) air on NBC and CBS, respectively.
1986: Singer Sabrina Bryan, part of Disney’s The Cheetah Girls, is born Reba Sabrina Hinojos in Yorba Linda, California.
1991: In Walt Disney World, the Main Street Electrical Parade has its final performance (it will be shipped to Euro Disney).
1992: Singer Nicholas Jerry Jonas is born in Dallas, Texas. He will go on to perform as Chip in Broadway’s Beauty and the Beast before he and his brothers make it big.
1996: At Epcot, the Universe of Energy, now starring Ellen DeGeneres, reopens.
1997: In Downtown Disney in Florida, the West Side opens with the House of Blues, the Virgin Megastore, and the expanded AMC Pleasure Island 24 Theatres.
1999: Hurricane Floyd causes the Walt Disney World Resort to close. It is the resort’s first unscheduled closing since it opened.
2005: Life with Derek premieres on the Disney Channel.
