Epcot Merges with 'Kim Possible' Animation

Kicking off in late 2008, Walt Disney World Resort will have decked out Epcot to reflect the hi-tech possibilities that animation fans often came to know from the Disney television animation Kim Possible. Always looking to generate a new, interactive experience for its guests, the Resort will be looking to build a world around Kim's noted gadgets, establishing a curiously familiar but ultimately "futuristic" environment for kids and parents to enjoy.

Epcot Imagineers are planning on weaving together an experience whereby visitors to the site can embark on an international adventure--just like Kim and her friends--and as a result go through all of the fun, humorous, and hi-tech events that go along with being a top-notch, world-saving teenager. From taking their own handheld devices to serve as their guides, to gaining access to all sorts of "top-secret equipment" throughout Epcot, visitors will engage Kim Possible in a whole new way.

"Disney's Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure is an example of a next generation attraction that offers fun and excitement for the entire family," Jim MacPhee, Epcot Vice President, stated. "We are constantly exploring new ways to provide immersive experiences to Epcot guests, and this new offering will add to our dynamic portfolio."

Guests to the Resort will have the opportunity to partake in seven separate missions, each of which are at seven of the World Showcase pavilions: Mexico, Norway, Japan, France, China, Germany, and United Kingdom. With villains from the series turning up around every corner, and the rest of Team Possible at one's disposal, Epcot's tradition of previewing the future for all members of the family gleefully crosses over into the world of animation, later this year.

Just as the Kim Possible television animation used to bring viewers into a frame of reference where sometimes ridiculous but always entertaining villains brought out fascinating technology to toy with, so does the Resort hope to duplicate these adventures for its visitors. "Today's emerging generation expects more immersive, personal and interactive experiences in every facet of their lives, including their entertainment choices," Bruce Vaughn, Chief Creative Executive of Walt Disney Imagineering, commented.

"As leaders in family entertainment, Disney theme parks push the envelope by combining state-of-the-art technology with creative storytelling to enhance the overall Disney vacation experience."
