Natural disasters can take quite a toll on a community â?? but they can also provide an opportunity to give back, as was the case with the Cooper family. When their town was hit by devastating floods in September of 2009, the family pitched in right away, laying sandbags to prevent additional damage. After the waters receded, the family joined with members of their church and Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) to assist local families clean up debris, tear down damaged structures and repair homes. Truly committed to helping their community, the Cooper family is signed up to help rebuild homes throughout the year.
