Over the past 24 hours major cruise lines such as Carnival and Royal Caribbean have altered itineraries for dozens of ships that call in Mexico, and the changes keep coming.
Are you scheduled to cruise to Mexico in the coming weeks? Here is a ship-by-ship breakdown of the changes to date that will be continually updated as more information becomes available:
CARNIVAL
Carnival has canceled Mexican port calls for all voyages currently underway or departing through May 4 -- a change that affects 15 of the line's 22 ships. Specifics:
-- Carnival Ecstasy. The ship will remain at sea today and tomorrow instead of calling in Progreso and Cozumel. The May 2 departure of the ship has been expanded into a seven-day voyage visiting Montego Bay, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. The May 7 departure has been canceled. The May 11 departure has been expanded into a seven-day voyage departing two days early on May 9 that visits Montego Bay and Grand Cayman.

-- Carnival Fantasy. The ship will visit Key West Wednesday and remain at sea Thursday instead of calling in Progreso and Cozumel. The May 2 departure has been expanded into a seven-day voyage visiting Key West, Freeport and Nassau. The May 7 departure has been canceled. The May 11 departure has been expanded into a seven-day voyage departing two days early on May 9 that visits Key West, Freeport and Nassau.

-- Carnival Paradise. The ship will remain at sea Wednesday instead of visiting Ensenada. The May 1 departure will include a visit to Catalina instead of Ensenada. The May 4 departure will not include a visit to Ensenada as scheduled (no replacement).
-- Carnival Imagination. The ship will visit Nassau Thursday instead of visiting Cozumel Wednesday. The May 4 departure will include a visit to Nassau instead of Cozumel.
-- Carnival Splendor. The ship will spend Wednesday and Thusday at sea and visit San Francisco Friday in lieu of this week's calls in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. The May 3 departure will substitute calls in San Francisco, Seattle and Victoria, B.C., for all stops in Mexico.
-- Carnival Destiny. The April 30 departure will include a call in Nassau instead of Cozumel.
-- Carnival Triumph. The May 3 departure will include a call in Belize instead of Cozumel.
-- Carnival Liberty. The May 2 departure will include a call in Roatan instead of Cozumel.
-- Carnival Glory. For the May 2 departure, the ship will sail an Eastern Caribbean itinerary instead of a Western Caribbean itinerary with calls in Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.
-- Carnival Inspiration. The April 30 departure will stop at Grand Cayman instead of Cozumel. The May 4 sailing will stop at Grand Cayman twice instead of Cozumel and Grand Cayman.
-- Carnival Elation. The April 30 departure will stop in Catalina instead of Ensenada. The May 3 departure will skip Ensenada (no replacement).
-- Holiday. The April 30 departure will stop at Key West instead of Cozumel. The May 4 departure will call on Key West and Freeport instead of Cozumel and Calica.
Carnival says that passengers currently booked on one of the above cruises who elect not to sail on the revised itinerary can request a future cruise credit to use on a sailing departing prior to Dec. 31, 2010 at a later date. Call 1-888-CARNIVAL for more information.
ROYAL CARIBBEAN
Royal Caribbean has canceled all port calls in Mexico "for the immediate future" -- a change that affects six ships. Specifics:
-- Enchantment of the Seas. On five-night sailings that depart on Mondays, the ship will spend additional time in Key West and an additional day at sea instead of Cozumel. On the four-night sailings that depart on Thursdays, the ship will spend additional time in Key West and call on Nassau in the Bahamas instead of Cozumel. On five-night sailings that depart on Saturdays, the ship will visit Ocho Rios, Jamaica instead of Cozumel.
-- Freedom of the Seas. The ship will spend additional time in George Town, Cayman Islands and an additional day at sea instead of Cozumel.
-- Liberty of the Seas. The ship will visit Coco Cay, the line's private island in the Bahamas, instead of Cozumel.
-- Mariner of the Seas. In general, the ship will visit San Francisco, Seattle and Victoria, B.C. instead of three ports in Mexico. One exception is the ship's May 10 departure, which will visit Astoria, Ore., rather than San Francisco. The line says the revised itineraries for Mariner of the Seas are scheduled to take place up to and including the ship's June 14 sailing.
Due to the major overhaul of the itinerary, the line says passengers booked on the revised sailings can contact their travel agent or Royal Caribbean for compensation and rebooking options. The line has set up a special help desk to assist such passengers at 800-327-6700.
-- Serenade of the Seas. The ship, in the midst of repositioning cruise as it heads to Alaska, will visit San Diego on its current sailing instead of Cabo San Lucas.
-- Radiance of the Seas. The ship, in the midst of repositioning cruise as it heads to Alaska, will have an extended, overnight port call in San Diego and an extra day at sea instead of calls in Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas.
HOLLAND AMERICA
Holland America has canceled all port calls in Mexico for the five ships it has sailing past the country this week and next week on repositioning cruises from the Caribbean to the Pacific. Specifics:
-- Ryndam. The ship is skipping four Mexican ports on its current 10-day roundtrip "Sea of Cortez" sailing out of San Diego (which was also available as an extended 14-day sailing that ended in Vancouver). The Ryndam's new itinerary will take it back to San Diego on May 1 (it already was scheduled to stop in the city on May 4) and Long Beach, Calif., on May 2. Remaining the same: Stops in Catalina Island (May 3) and Victoria, B.C. (May 7) before the voyage ends May 8 in Vancouver.
-- Statendam. The ship, currently on a 14-night repositioning cruise from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego, remained at sea on Wednesday instead of visiting Cabo San Lucas. There are no other changes.
-- Westerdam. The ship, currently on a 22-day repositioning cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Seattle, visited Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala Wednesday (instead of Puerto Chiapas, Mexico) and will visit Corinto, Nicaragua Thursday instead of Huatulco, Mexico. The ship also will skip a Friday port call in Acapulco, remaining at sea.
-- Zuiderdam. The ship, currently on a 22-day repositioning cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Vancouver, visited Puntarenas, Costa Rica Wednesday (instead of spending the day at sea) and will visit San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua Thursday instead of Puerto Chiapas, Mexico. On Friday the ship will visit Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala instead of Huatulco. The ship also will skip a Saturday port call in Acapulco, remaining at sea.
-- Veendam. The ship, scheduled to depart May 1 on a 16-night repositioning cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Vancouver, will visit Corinto, Nicaragua on May 8 and Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala on May 9 in lieu of calls in Huatulco, Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas. Also added to the schedule is a day of "scenic cruising" along the Golfo Dulce on May 6.
DISNEY CRUISE LINE
Disney Cruise Line has canceled the next Mexico call of the Disney Magic, the only ship it has visiting the country. Specifics:
-- Disney Magic. The ship will visit Nassau on May 6 instead of calling in Cozumel. Disney has not announced changes yet to any other departures.
PRINCESS CRUISES
Princess has canceled all remaining port calls in Mexico for its spring season -- a change that affects eight sailings on six different ships that are in the process of repositioning to Alaska. Specifics:
-- Sapphire Princess. The ship will call in San Diego and Catalina this week instead of Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. Princess is telling passengers on the ship's May 2 sailing that it will call on Santa Barbara, San Diego and San Francisco in lieu of calls in Mexico. It will make a short stop in Ensenada, Mexico in which passengers will not be allowed off the ship in order to qualify as an international cruise under U.S. rules.
-- Island Princess. The ship will remain at sea or visit alternative ports instead of calling on Mexico as it repositions to Alaska. Princess says it will offer additional details on the changes later today.
