THE weather may be frigid but the Gold Coast's lovestruck polar bears have turned up the heat at Sea World.
Russian beauty Liya and Canadian romeo Nelson have become the hottest couple in town and are boldly making very public displays of affection at their Polar Shores pad.
At seven years old, Liya is in her prime and has chosen four-year-old Nelson to be her toyboy, over his miffed twin brother, Hudson.
Sea World animal trainers noticed the bond between the couple last week and have separated Hudson to give the couple more "alone time".
The new arrangement has been a hit and the pair have been flaunting their love, much to the embarrassment of parents trying to field awkward questions from their curious children.
Marine sciences director Trevor Long said it was hoped cubs could be born as early as April next year.
"Nelson is very amorous and some people have suggested we dim the lights and put some soft music on for them."
